CUES has been developed to ensure urgent eye care can safely continue during the pandemic.
It has been developed by LOCSU, NHSE-I and the Clinical Council for Eye Health Commissioning (CCEHC)and endorsed by the College of Optometrists and Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
Patients will be given a virtual consultation which will allow patients to receive their consultation at home, in line with the public health guidance and the needs of patients who are self-isolating or in the high-risk vulnerable category.
Patients can self-present (by telephone) or be referred / redirected from other services for clinical assessment and management.
All remote consultations will occur within 48hours of telephone triage.
For people who are hard of hearing or have communication needs, a support person/advocate can be nominated who can also be invited to the consultation to support the patient.
